It seems that Western festivals such as Christmas are becoming more and more popular among the young in China. Which do you like better, the Western festivals or traditional Chinese ones?
Jim: I like both. Many Chinese festivals have nice or interesting legends(传说). I love them. At the same time I am curious about(对……好奇) Western festivals because they are new to me.
Bob: I prefer Chinese festivals. I think as a Chinese, we should like our own festivals. They are parts of Chinese tradition and culture.
Lily: I like Chinese festivals better because I think each festival has a long history. It’s amazing to celebrate the same festivals as our ancestors(祖先) did.
Tom: I am fond of Chinese festivals. As my parents are usually very busy and I study in a boarding school, I have little time to spend with them after school. Only Chinese festivals can bring us together.
Susan: Compared with(跟……相比) Western festivals, Chinese festivals care more about family. But I want to spend more time with friends. So I like Western festivals better.
Tina: I enjoy Western festivals very much. Many festivals like April Fools’ Day and Halloween are very fun and exciting.
Hobe: I like the Spring Festival best. I enjoy the nice food, exciting fireworks and “Red Packet” with lucky money in it. You can see smiles on people’s faces and hear wishes from others everywhere. It makes all the Chinese around the world united as one.
